## Types of granularity

Bitmovin Analytics offers data in 2 different granularities:

  • High-granularity data: Each event of every user session is collected.

  • Compressed data: All events of a user session are compressed into a one-row summary of the user session.

High-granularity data is by default stored for 30 days, for the remaining retention period, compressed data is available to customers.

## Dashboard and query implications

  • Dashboard features that are based on high-granularity data or have limited functionality after the high-granularity retention period are marked as such in the dashboard.

  • All custom API queries soly based on high-granularity data will only function for that respective period.
