Bitmovin Cloud Connect Licensing

Bitmovin Cloud Connect requires an active Bitmovin license with Cloud Connect feature enabled.

License Model:

  • Commercial Agreement Required: Cloud Connect is available only through private commercial agreements
  • Account-Level Activation: The feature must be specifically activated for your Bitmovin account
  • No Self-Service: Licensing is not available through self-service; contact Bitmovin sales: [email protected]

Licensed Components:

  1. Bitmovin Encoding Service:
    • Core encoding functionality
    • Licensed per account or sub-organization
    • Includes access to encoder versions and features
  2. Cloud Connect Feature:
    • Ability to run encodings in customers' cloud accounts (AWS, GCP, Azure, OCI, Akamai Cloud)
    • Must be explicitly enabled on Bitmovin account
    • Separate activation from standard Bitmovin encoding

Obtaining and Activating Licenses:

  3. Receive custom pricing quote
  4. Sign commercial agreement
  5. Bitmovin activates Cloud Connect on your account

Monitoring License Status:

Check License Activation:

  1. Log in to Bitmovin Dashboard: https://dashboard.bitmovin.com/
  2. Navigate to "VOD/LIVE Encoding > Cloud Connect"
  3. If you can access this section, Cloud Connect is activated
  4. If not available, contact Bitmovin support

Monitor Usage:

  • Bitmovin tracks encoding usage against your license
  • Usage reports available through Bitmovin Dashboard
  • Contact your account representative for detailed usage analytics

License Renewal:

Renewal Process:

  1. Advance Notice: Bitmovin will notify you before license expiration
  2. Contact Sales: Reach out to your account representative or [email protected]
  3. Review Terms: Discuss any changes to usage or requirements
  4. Renew Agreement: Sign renewal agreement
  5. Continuous Service: No interruption if renewed before expiration

Renewal Timeline:

  • Typically annual or multi-year agreements
  • Renewal discussions begin 60-90 days before expiration
  • Plan ahead to avoid service interruption

License Expiration:

What Happens if License Expires:

  • Cloud Connect feature will be disabled
  • New encoding jobs cannot be started
  • AWS infrastructure remains in your account but inactive

Preventing Expiration:

  • Set calendar reminders for renewal dates
  • Maintain contact with Bitmovin account team
  • Monitor renewal notifications from Bitmovin
